History: The French Camp Vineyard is located near Santa Margarita. It is in the Highlands District (1 of 11 Paso Robles’ Sub AVAs). The Highlands have higher elevation ranging between 1,.160 -2,086 feet. They use unique farming techniques and trust us to make quality wines with their Zinfandel grapes as well as their rare Lagrein grapes.
This Zinfandel is full-bodied with a violet purple medium translucent color. It is well balanced with contrasting fruit and spice that complement each other. It has a smooth yet spicy finish.
The fruit on French Camp Zinfandel boasts wild brambles and dried fruit flavors. Plum, fig, and blackberries meet leather and brown spices, such as nutmeg and clove. The spicy finish lingers on the palate.
Food Pairing: BBQ, steaks, stewed meats, chilis, and bold dishes. Pair with Chinese-style pork baby back ribs with a guava BBQ sauce. Try with mushrooms stuffed with smoked bacon, shallots, and creamy brie cheese.
